KARACHI: Hayley Matthews backed her economical bowling figures of 1/24 with a brilliant 78-run knock and powered West Indies to seal a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Pakistan in the fifth T20I here at National Bank Stadium on Friday.

Set to chase 135, West Indies comfortably amassed the total for the loss of just two wickets and 10 balls to spare, courtesy of a match-winning knock by their skipper Matthews.

The touring side had a decent start to the run chase as Matthews and Rashada Williams added 25 runs for the first wicket before the latter fell victim to Sadia Iqbal in the fifth over.

Williams scored 16 off 11 deliveries with the help of three boundaries.

Matthews was then joined by Shemaine Campbelle and the duo put the touring side in sheer command with a dominant partnership.

The duo batted sensibly and 103 runs for the second-wicket partnership, majorly dominated by Matthews, who also brought her half-century in the process.

Matthews, however, could not take West Indies over the line as she fell victim to Nashra Sandhu in the 18th over with the touring side needing a mere seven.

She remained the top-scorer for West Indies with a 59-ball 78 and struck 11 boundaries.

Meanwhile, Campbelle carried her bat all the way through and remained unbeaten with a 33-run knock.

For Pakistan, only Sadia Iqbal and Nashra Sandhu could pick up a wicket.

Put into bat first, Pakistan women managed to amass a formidable total, courtesy of a gutsy knock by opener Sidra.

The home side got off to a flying start to their innings and had amassed 34 runs in the first four overs with Ayesha Zafar leading the charge.

Qiana Joseph then provided West Indies with a much-needed breakthrough as she castled Ayesha in the next over. Ayesha scored 22 off 16 deliveries with the help of four boundaries.

Following Ayesha’s dismissal, Muneeba Ali partnered with Sidra for a cautious stand which yielded 46 runs.

The stand lasted in the 13th over when Afy Fletcher cleaned up Muneeba, who scored 25 off 19 balls, hitting three boundaries.

Fletcher struck again in the same over and got rid of Pakistan captain Nida Dar (2).

The back-to-back dismissals ignited a middle-order collapse and Pakistan lost four more wickets in quick succession and consequently slipped to 116/7 in 17.4 overs.

Sidra, on the other hand, carried her bat till the penultimate over and perished after top-scoring for Pakistan with a 52-ball 48. Her gritty knock featured five boundaries.

Later, Rameen Shamim (16) bolstered the home side’s total past the 130-run mark with a brisk cameo.

Afy Fletcher led the bowling attack for West Indies with 3/17 in her four overs, followed by Joseph, who bagged two.

Hayley Matthews and Aaliyah Alleyne chipped in with a wicket apiece.

It is worth mentioning here that West Indies lead the five-match series 3-1 against hosts Pakistan.

KARACHI: Ayesha Zafar’s unbeaten 42-run knock after a dominant outing from the spinners led Pakistan women to beat West Indies by eight wickets in the fourth T20I of the five-match series here at National Bank Stadium on Thursday.

Set to chase 85, Pakistan women comfortably knocked the winning runs on the third delivery of the 17th over when Ayesha Zafar smashed Jannillea Glasgow for a boundary.

The home side had a brief flying start to the pursuit with Sidra Ameen and Ayesha amassing 24 runs in the first three overs.

West Indies pulled things back in the fourth over when Shamilia Connell cleaned up Sidra, who scored 15 off 12 deliveries, laced up with three boundaries.

Muneeba Ali (8) then joined Ayesha for a brief 15-run partnership until falling victim to Afy Fletcher in the eighth over with 41 runs on the board.

Her dismissal, however, did not trouble Pakistan women much as Gull Feroza partnered strongly with Ayesha and denied West Indies a comeback.

The pair batted sensibly and knitted a match-winning 46-run partnership.

Ayesha top-scored for Pakistan with a 48-ball 42 which featured three boundaries whereas Feroza made 21 off 24 balls.

For West Indies, Connell and Fletcher could pick up a wicket.

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews’ decision to bat first did not bore fruits as the touring side could only manage 84 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

The visitors got off to the worst possible start to their innings as Sadia Iqbal got Qiana Joseph (0) stumped on the first delivery.

Sadia then struck again in the next over and removed in-form Hayley Matthews (1) to put Pakistan women on top as West Indies slipped to 14/2 in 2.3 overs.

Following the back-to-back dismissals, Shemaine Campbelle put together a cautious partnership with Chedean Nation and anchored the innings briefly.

The duo added 22 runs for the third wicket before both perished in successive overs, bringing the total down to 39/4 in 10 overs.

Campbelle remained the top-scorer for West Indies with a 20-ball 26 with the help of two boundaries and a six while Nation played a scratchy knock of eight in 24 deliveries.

Zaida James then took the reigns of the West Indies batting expedition and put together brief partnerships with Aaliyah Alleyne and Jannillea Glasgow before perishing in the 16th over.

She remained a notable run-getter for West Indies with an anchoring 19 off 24 deliveries, hitting two boundaries.

Glasgow, on the other hand, carried her bat till the penultimate over until falling victim to Sadia, who returned brilliant figures of 3/18.

Besides her, skipper Nida Dar also picked three wickets while Nashra Sandhu and Rameen Shamim chipped in with a wicket apiece.

KARACHI: Hayley Matthews’ dominant half-century, followed by a combined bowling effort led West Indies to beat Pakistan women in the third T20I of the five-match series here at National Bank Stadium on Tuesday.

Set to chase 133, Pakistan women came up narrowly short of keeping the series alive as they fell to an agonizing two-run defeat in the third T20I against West Indies.

The home side got off to a flying start to the run chase with opener Sidra Ameen hitting boundaries at will.

She put together a one-sided 64-run partnership with Ayesha Zafar, who fell in the ninth over after scoring a scratchy 19 off 22 deliveries.

Sidra then put together brief partnerships with Muneeba Ali (12) and skipper Nida Dar (17) before finally perishing in the 18th over.

She remained the top-scorer for Pakistan with a brisk 83 off 58 deliveries, hitting seven boundaries.

Her dismissal sparked a lower-order collapse as Pakistan lost four more wickets in quick succession, allowing West Indies to force an astonishing comeback.

The home side needed 12 runs off the final over but Shamilia Connell displayed nerves of steel and got West Indies over the line despite conceding a boundary off the final delivery.

Put into bat first, West Indies amassed 132/5 in the allotted 20 overs despite a cautious start.

West Indies’ new opening pair of Rashada Williams (1) and Hayley Matthews did not prove beneficial for the touring side as the former struggled against a disciplined Pakistan women bowling attack before falling victim to Fatima Sana in the fourth over.

In-form Matthews was then joined by Shermaine Campbelle and the pair launched an astounding recovery.

The duo added 89 runs for the second wicket with Hayley Matthews leading the charge and bringing her second consecutive half-century in the process.

She smashed 10 boundaries on her way to a 49-ball 68 before falling victim to Tuba Hassan in the 16th over.

Campbelle followed Matthews’ footsteps in the next over as Nida Dar got her caught behind. She remained a notable run-getter for West Indies with an anchoring 31.

The back-to-back dismissals halted the flow of runs for the touring party as they could add 21 runs at the cost of two more wickets off the remaining 21 deliveries.

Pakistan’s ace pacer Fatima Sana led the bowling attack for Pakistan women with two wickets while Tuba and Dar chipped in with a wicket apiece.

It is worth mentioning here that West Indies women lead the five-match series 2-0 against Pakistan.

KARACHI: West Indies women’s captain Hayley Matthews claimed 3-25, followed by her 11th T20I half-century to lead her side to a seven-wicket win over Pakistan in the second T20I at National Bank Stadium here on Sunday.

Matthews, during the 122-run chase, got off to a good start but she lost her opening partner Qiana Joseph in the fourth over.

Shemaine Campbelle joined Matthews and together they knitted a solid 67-run stand for the second wicket to keep West Indies in command of the run-chase.

Matthews was dismissed by Sadia Iqbal after she scored 58 runs from 43 balls, which featured ten boundaries.

Tuba Hassan then castled Campbelle (21) with 95 runs on the board in 14.4 overs.

Chedean Nation (17) and Chinelle Henry (8) then joined hands to form an unbeaten 29-run stand, leading West Indies to victory with ten balls to spare.

For Pakistan, Iqbal, Hassan and Diana Baig managed one wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan women opted to bat first but could not get the desired start as Sidra Ameen fell inside four overs with 23 runs on the board.

Muneeba Ali joined Gull Feroza and constructed a cautious one-sided partnership of 29 runs before the latter went back to the pavilion.

Ali was then joined by captain Nida Dar (13) and they added 41 runs for the third wicket, but could not increase the scoring rate courtesy of West Indies’ impressive bowling.

Ali top-scored for Pakistan with 55 runs from 47 balls with the help of five boundaries before falling prey to Hayley Matthews in the last over.

None of the lower-order batters could reach the double-figure as Ayesha Zafar remained unbeaten at nine off 10 balls.

Pakistan women accumulated 121-7 in their allocated 20 overs.

Matthews led the bowling for West Indies with figures of 3-25, while Chinelle Henry, Karishma Ramharack and Afy Fletcher managed one wicket each.
